assessment > training > education

The first stage of the ESC Performance Pathway is our scientific assessments. You can choose from a range of assessments designed to provide you with a snapshot of your current physical condition.

These include:

  • Personal Health Survey
This provides the necessary information about your current health status to ensure your assessments and training are safe and appropriate for you.

  • Functional Movement Analysis
This provides information about how your body moves and which muscles may be weak or over-active. Muscle imbalances will be individual to you and increase your chance of injury and may limit performance.

  • Physiological fitness assessments
We can provide a range of bespoke physiological fitness assessments tailored to your individual needs; they include measurements of body composition, resting metabolic rate, exercise economy, fuel utilisation, lactate profile, VO2max and blood biochemistry. These assessments will allow us to accurately measure your current fitness levels, understand how your body responds to exercise and therefore identify accurate training zone intensities.

  • Nutritional Assessment
This assessment is used to identify any deficits in your current diet and provide specific nutritional advice for your athletic event.

  • Psychological Assessment
This provides a profile of your current psychological characteristics, skills and attributes which may affect your athletic preparation and performance.

  • Biomechanical assessment
Using the latest technology, we are able to assess the charactertics of your movement patterns during locomotion and identify specific issues which may cause injury and limit your athletic development and performance.

  • Field-based performance assessments
These assessments are ideal for clubs, squads and organisations, where large numbers of people need to be assessed. The assessment will be tailored to your sport and can include: body composition, flexibility, power, speed, agility, endurance, speed/endurance.
